..My wife and I have taken out ABF Travel Insurance each year since the scheme commenced at the beginning of 2012. I had hoped never to have to claim on it, but when the time came, I’m glad I was with TBIB rather than someone else!…

Rakesh Kumar of Mittagong hit the nail on the head.

The last 6 months has been a challenging time for us and many of our clients.  For anyone who planned to travel (and paid) it’s been a nightmare.  For anyone in business – especially for many hospitality and service businesses – it’s been a time of great uncertainty.

For an insurance broker in 2020, dealing with an insurance industry which sent everyone to work from home almost overnight, it’s been enormously challenging to undertake our duties and responsibilities to clients and especially to manage unprecedented numbers of claims.

As an insurance broker however whether it’s a good or bad year, our remit remains the same;  we source and design the best insurance products available, we do our very best to help our client understand what they’re covered for and what they’re not covered for, and we are the client’s representative at claim time.  This goes for every form of insurance we offer; travel, home and contents, business – the lot.

Rakesh had a very disappointing and potentially costly holiday cancellation– as did many of our ABF clients.  He writes.

Dear Steve,

I’m writing to tell you about how the disappointing enforced cancellation of our planned holiday to Canada in May had a relatively happy ending, thanks to our ABF Travel Insurance through TBIB.

We had prepaid over $18.5K for this holiday, which had been booked through a travel agent, and were only eligible for a refund of $4,260 when border closures in the wake of COVID-19 meant we had to cancel. Having dotted all the i’s and crossed all the t’s as required by the claims agent, Gallagher Bassett, we received full reimbursement of the balance (less the excess) of $14,255 a few days ago. This was about 12 weeks after lodging the claim – considering the circumstances and the additional documentation requested, the process was really quite efficient.

My wife and I have taken out ABF Travel Insurance each year since the scheme commenced at the beginning of 2012. I had hoped never to have to claim on it, but when the time came, I’m glad I was with TBIB rather than someone else!

Best wishes,

Rakesh

It’s extremely gratifying to receive that sort of feedback from a client, however it serves to emphasise a serious deeper message.

While price and product features are important considerations when it comes to financial products, having a qualified professional with a legally binding responsibility to represent your best interests is essential to getting the best protection available.  This is especially important at claim time and goes for every type of insurance.

Despite the many difficulties we’ve all encountered this year, TBIB is still here, and still looking after our clients.  If there is something you need, give us a call.  If you’ve never had the pleasure of speaking with one of the team, give us a try.

Remember TBIB can help you with all of your insurances.  Even if it’s just to cast an eye over what you’ve already got.
